Kennebunk Savings Unveils “Make Your Case” Video Contest for Nonprofits

02/26/2010February 19, 2010 – For the past 16 years, Kennebunk Savings’ customers have voted for their favorite nonprofit though the popular Customer Ballot program. These votes have helped determine where Kennebunk Savings directs a portion of its corporate giving each year. The more votes cast by bank customers for a nonprofit, the more money that organization receives. This year, to further help area nonprofits affected by the recent economic downturn, Kennebunk Savings has added a “Make Your Case” video contest, which offers organizations the opportunity to promote its cause online and be eligible to win an additional $300.

The contest, open to all area nonprofits, will run through March 10, 2010. To participate, organizations will need to create and submit a short video of no more than 90 seconds explaining why Kennebunk Savings customers should vote for the nonprofit. All videos will be posted to a dedicated YouTube channel – www.youtube.com/makeyourcase.  The top three nonprofits whose videos make the strongest case for their agencies will win $300 each. For complete contest rules and instructions, please visit www.kennebunksavings.com/makeyourcase/rules.

“The annual Customer Ballot has proven to be a popular program,” said Bradford Paige, Kennebunk Savings President and CEO. “This is the seventeenth year of our ballot, and in recent years many of our local non-profits have taken to promoting the Kennebunk Savings ballot initiative to their supporters.  We thought it would be fun for the non-profits to play on their existing grassroots lobbying efforts by introducing the idea of social media. It offers nonprofits a way to further promote their cause online, and we were happy to add some extra prize money to reward the most creative entries.” Kennebunk Savings has a long and proud history of giving back to the community. Since 1994, the bank has donated 10 percent or more of its annual earnings to nonprofits through its Community Investment Program, totaling over $7 million directed to the work of York County charities and nonprofits.
